Developed, tested, implemented: Is Russian supersonic returning to the sky?

A new generation supersonic passenger airliner is being designed taking into account the environmental and economic requirements of the 21st century

Leading scientific centers in Russia have focused their efforts on creating new generations of aircraft that can radically change the face of civil and regional aviation. Among the priorities is the development of a new generation supersonic passenger aircraft.

In parallel, the concept of mainline aircraft with a new aerodynamic configuration is actively being developed, which promises to significantly increase fuel efficiency and reduce operating costs. Special attention is paid to regional aviation: scientists are working on short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft equipped with systems for energy management of wing flow. Such aircraft will be able to serve small airfields without developed infrastructure, providing reliable communication between remote regions.

In addition, fundamentally new high-speed rotorcraft with innovative layouts are under development. They are designed to increase safety, economy and speed of movement - including in urban air mobility, where there is a growing demand for "air taxis" and high-speed helicopter transportation.

These projects are united by a single goal: the creation of Russian aircraft that meet the challenges of the 21st century - from environmental friendliness to the availability of air travel for all segments of the population.
