Development of a powerful GTU NK-36ST-32 brought "ODK-Kuznetsov" recognition in the Russian industry

"ODK-Kuznetsov" (part of the United Engine Corporation of Rostec State Corporation) became a laureate of the "Aircraft Builder of the Year" competition at the end of 2024 in the nomination "Best Innovative Project". The jury noted the creation of the first Russian industrial gas turbine engine NK-36ST-32 with a capacity of 32 MW.

The engine project is recognized as significant for the development of domestic energy and oil and gas engineering. NK-36ST-32 is designed for use in gas pumping units and gas turbine power plants.

The engine design implements a number of engineering solutions characteristic of modern industrial GTUs. The use of heat-resistant materials in the high-pressure turbine components has increased the service life and resistance to thermal loads. The modular architecture facilitates maintenance and reduces repair time.

The power turbine uses advanced aerodynamic blade profiles, which increases operating efficiency and reduces specific fuel consumption.

In terms of technical parameters, the NK-36ST-32 provides an output to a rated power of 32 MW with an efficiency of about 38%. The engine has a lower fuel consumption compared to existing domestic counterparts, and its designated service life reaches 120,000 hours.

The design allows for operation in harsh climatic conditions - at high ambient temperatures and in high mountains.
