Construction of the MetroTram has resumed in Chelyabinsk - a unique hybrid of metro and tram that has been frozen for many years due to constant delays, stoppages, and funding problems. Since November 20, the Chinese corporation CRCC has been responsible for tunneling, having signed a contract for several billion rubles with the general contractor "Mosproekt-3". Equipment has already been delivered, and work is underway from three sites simultaneously.
However, the project is once again at the center of a scandal. The MetroTram operator has filed a lawsuit against "Mosproekt-3" for almost 217 million rubles. According to observers, this may be due to late payment penalties, which casts doubt on the stability of the construction schedule.
Expert assessments remain contradictory: some believe that the probability of completing the project exceeds 70%, while others warn that if the budget situation worsens, construction may be "frozen" again.
Despite the risks, authorities emphasize that the MetroTram continues to be built, and tunneling work is accelerating.
