United Engine Corporation of Rostec presented the new VK-650V aircraft engine for light helicopters and a number of small-sized power plants for drones at Dubai Airshow 2025. The developments are intended for Russian aircraft, while they can also be adapted for promising foreign models.
The VK-650V is a completely Russian engine created using modern technologies and materials. It has already received a Russian type certificate and is undergoing flight tests on the Ansat light helicopter in an import-substituted version.
Alexander Grachev, General Director of UEC, emphasized that the engine is focused on the mass segment of light helicopters, is ready for mass production and can replace foreign analogues.
The new power plant combines high fuel efficiency with a long service life of parts and is equipped with a digital automatic control system. The engine's take-off power reaches 650 hp, and in emergency mode - 750 hp. In addition, a 500 kW hybrid power plant and an RH50 400 kW turbogenerator have been created on the basis of the VK-650V, which can be used in transport drones, air taxis and hybrid vertical and super-short take-off aircraft.
The small-sized turbojet engines and RH50 turbogenerator presented at the exhibition are characterized by high fuel efficiency, light weight and easy operation.
