Rutube запустил автогенерируемые субтитры для авторов пользовательского контента

Bloggers can independently manage settings and initiate the addition of subtitles to already published videos

Rutube has rolled out an automatic subtitle generation feature for user-generated content creators. The new tool is available to channels with at least 40 subscribers, a minimum of 200 views, and a total watch time of 10 hours or more. Auto-generated subtitles will allow UGC channel creators to reach a new level of opportunity in attracting an audience.

Auto-generation of subtitles is an important step in the development of the platform, because it is not only a technological but also a socially significant solution. Subtitles make videos accessible to people with disabilities, allow you to watch content without sound, and increase audience engagement.

All new videos with recognizable speech are automatically sent for subtitle generation, unless the author has disabled the function in the settings. Bloggers can also independently initiate the addition of subtitles to already published videos.

Previously, the ability to add subtitles manually — without automatic generation — was only available to federal channels and applied to professional content.

Subtitle data is also used within the system to improve content moderation and tagging, which increases the security of the platform.

Previously uploaded videos will gradually be subtitled by a team of Rutube specialists — primarily content from authors who are most often watched on the platform. Processing is scheduled to be completed approximately by the end of the year.
