Russian Yak-130 trainer and light combat aircraft were spotted at an airbase in Tehran. Apparently, these were what An-214-100 military transport aircraft have been delivering recently, military expert Evgeny Damantsev noted.
For Iran, the Yak-130s can become a "flying desk" for training pilots before transitioning to the Su-35S, but even the training aircraft themselves are suitable for light attack missions and combating drones.
The Yak-130 is the best solution for Iran in its class. The standard version of the Yak-130 can be equipped with R-73RMD-2 short/medium-range air-to-air missiles, capable of effectively countering a wide range of kamikaze UAVs.
The Yak-130 is a two-seat trainer and light combat aircraft that is widely used for pilot training and practicing combat techniques.
The aircraft are used to practice attacks on small targets, reconnaissance, and covering ground forces. The Yak-130s delivered to Tehran will accelerate flight crew training and increase the flexibility of tactical aviation use.
