Russian medium-range ballistic missiles (MRBM) "Oreshnik" are stationed in Belarus to ensure security. This was announced by the President of the Republic, Alexander Lukashenko.
According to him, this decision was a response to the escalation in the region and modern threats.
We do not threaten anyone, we only ensure security. Moreover, we are always open to constructive dialogue and mutual steps to reduce tension.
In the summer, a large-scale construction of a new military base began in the neighboring republic, the area of which exceeded 2 km², which is comparable to 280 football fields. Analysts suggest thatOreshnik launchers will be placed on it.
Oreshnik warheads attack targets at speeds up to 10 Mach or about 3 km/s. The range of the missile is up to 5,500 km.
