Starting in November, telecom operators in Russia will be able to block excess SIM cards if one person has more than 20 numbers. This is reported by RIA Novosti, citing legislative amendments adopted last year.
According to the document, operators are required to verify information about subscribers who entered into mobile communication service agreements before April 1, 2025, and determine the number of registered numbers.
Subscribers need to terminate excess contracts by November 1, 2025, otherwise operators will be required to suspend service to excess SIM cards.
Existing regulations stipulate that one individual can own no more than 20 communication numbers. The new checks and blocks are aimed at simplifying subscriber accounting and combating fraud associated with the use of multiple SIM cards.
