In less than a week, 87 flares were recorded on the Sun. This was reported by the press service of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
87 flares occurred on the Sun, including 16 strong events of level M. The integral flare activity index at its peak reached a level of 8.1, which is the highest value since mid-June of this year.
Solar activity will remain at an elevated level for another 2–3 days. But this will no longer affect the planet — magnetic storms are not predicted, flare activity will weaken.
Currently, an assessment is being made of other possible factors affecting the planet, including from a large coronal hole currently observed on the solar disk.
Earlier www1.ru reported that three strong flares were recorded on October 16.
