The Russian main battle tank T-90M "Proryv" may be modernized by changing the location of the ammunition stowage. This decision can increase the survivability of the crew and the combat vehicle.
According to the new idea, the tank's shells may be moved to the rear. Currently, the ammunition is stored in the ammunition compartment in the tank's hull and in the autoloader.
The autoloader places separate-loading rounds in a special rotating mechanism under the turret, which provides rapid automatic reloading of the gun. The ammunition compartment in the hull is used to store additional shells.
The head of the Main Armored Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Sergei Mayev, also noted that the "Proryvs" could still be modernized. According to him, a reduction in the crew to one or two people is likely, but the future version of the T-90M will definitely not be unmanned.
