The Russian main battle tank T-90M "Proryv" may be modernized by changing the location of the ammunition stowage. This decision can improve the survivability of the crew and the combat vehicle.
According to the new idea, the tank's shells may be moved to the rear. Currently, the ammunition is stored in the ammunition compartment in the hull of the tank and in the autoloader.
The autoloader places separate-loading rounds in a special rotating mechanism under the turret, which provides rapid automatic reloading of the gun. The ammunition compartment in the hull is used to store additional shells.
The head of the Main Armored Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Sergei Mayev also noted that the "Proryvs" can still be modernized. According to him, a reduction in the crew is likely to one or two people, but the future version of the T-90M will definitely not become unmanned.
