An updated first-generation BMP-1AM "Basurmanin" infantry fighting vehicle has been spotted in service with the Russian military. The heavy equipment of Soviet production received new components and assemblies.
On this model, the standard combat module was completely replaced. Instead of the old turret, a BPPU MB1 gun-machine gun mount was installed, similar to that installed on the BTR-82A armored personnel carrier.
It uses a 30-mm 2A72 automatic cannon and a 7.62 mm PKTM machine gun. There are also new weapon stabilizer, sights with day and night channels. First of all, the overall firepower, rate of fire and range have increased. The firing sectors have also increased, including in the vertical plane.
The previous standard radio station was replaced with a digital "Aqueduct", and the protection was reinforced with side armored screens. Good mobility of the "Basurmanin" will be provided by a powerful 300 hp engine.
BMP-1AM "Basurmanin" infantry fighting vehicles replace the BMP-1s that were in service with the Russian Armed Forces. In the army they were called "kopeykas".
Earlier www1.ru reported that the latest Svarog-Strela interceptor drone has entered the testing stage.
