Assembly of the first keel beam bay of the MC-21-310 aircraft began at the Sokol aircraft plant

The assembled bay will be sent further along the cooperation chain for final assembly of the aircraft

The Nizhny Novgorod Aircraft Building Plant (KAZ) "Sokol" (part of the United Aircraft Corporation (PJSC "UAC") of the Rostec State Corporation) has started assembling the first keel beam bay (PKO) of the MC-21-310 aircraft. This was reported by the UAC press service.

The work is carried out in cooperation, within the framework of which the upper and lower sections of the bay, as well as the sealed bottom, were delivered to NAZ "Sokol". The company's specialists will have to complete the final assembly of the unit.

The development of the production of the keel beam bay of the MC-21-310 aircraft at the Nizhny Novgorod aircraft plant is being carried out systematically and in stages. At the first stage, the company has already mastered and mass-produces most of the nomenclature of parts for this unit.

At the next stage, "Sokol" expects full localization of the aircraft, within the framework of which it is planned to master the full cycle of production of the unit. It is planned to put into operation new purchased equipment, as well as master the manufacture of complex elements: sheet metal skins and parts for hydraulic, fuel systems and air conditioning systems. The manufacture of the necessary tooling for this stage is already in the final stage.

The production of bays will be organized in parallel at NAZ "Sokol" and in Ulyanovsk, which will ensure high rates of aircraft production.

After the aircraft receives the necessary type certificate, it is planned to reach an output of up to 24 sets of bays per year.

At the same time, a draft budget for the next three years has been submitted to the State Duma. It says that in 2026 funding for the Russian aviation industry development program will be seriously cut.

Earlier www1.ru reported that ODK will provide round-the-clock maintenance of PD-8 and PD-14 for airlines.
