A strong M1.5 class flare was recorded on the Sun, along with a large ejection of plasma towards Earth. This was reported by the press service of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the IKI and ISZF.
The flare occurred in the largest of the currently observed active centers on the Sun, No. 4232, located at the moment exactly on the Sun-Earth line. This location, in fact, leaves the plasma cloud no chance to pass by the planet.
There remains a possibility that the cloud will not gain the necessary speed to reach Earth, which is at least 600 km/s. According to preliminary estimates, if the cloud's movement is successful, it may reach Earth in approximately 2.5 days. Currently, only telescopic observations are available, which do not allow for an accurate assessment of the ejection speed.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that three strong flares were recorded on September 26 and 27.
