Belarus and Russia have strengthened cooperation in the production of assembly units for the Il-76 aircraft. This was reported by the State Military-Industrial Committee of the republic.
The head of the department, Dmitry Pantus, held a meeting with the leadership of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec) and a branch of PJSC "Aviastar" at the "Innoprom. Belarus" exhibition.
Following the negotiations, the parties signed agreements of intent on cooperation between PJSC "UAC" and JSC "558th Aviation Repair Plant", as well as additional agreements to contracts with the branch of PJSC "Aviastar" on the issue of manufacturing parts and assembly units for the Il-76 aircraft.
The department called the agreements reached an important step in expanding the localization and industrial cooperation of aircraft production within the framework of the Union State.
In Russia, meanwhile, they are building a modification of the Il-76MD-90A — a deep modernization of the Il-76MD. The aircraft is designed for the transportation and parachute landing of military equipment, personnel, and cargo.
The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, stated that due to the interest of foreign countries, the production of the aircraft needs to be tripled within 3.5 years.
