Russian aircraft designers involved in engine construction are creating the future of the industry today. The promising PD-35 aircraft is capable of becoming a breakthrough in global engine construction. But an airplane and foreign customers are vital for it, said Oleg Smirnov, Honored Pilot of the USSR and Chairman of the Commission on Civil Aviation of the Public Council of Rostransnadzor.
He drew attention to the fact that engines produced in small quantities are very expensive. Therefore, the construction of aircraft should be organized immediately for the PD-35.
At the same time, to organize mass production of engines, customers are needed, and not only our Russian ones. I am sure that other countries will gladly order PD-35 engines, as well as PD-14 and PD-8, which are also coming out.
The "PD-35 Engine" program has been implemented since 2017. The power plant is designed for wide-body passenger and transport aircraft. Previously, aviation gas turbine engines in the 35-ton thrust class were not created in the domestic aviation industry.
Currently, the technology demonstrator engine is being tested in Perm at the largest open test stand in the country, which can test aircraft engines with a thrust of up to 50 tons.
