The Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard will begin building the first vessel with a unified river-sea platform on April 1, 2026. The platform was presented at the NEVA-2025 exhibition. This is the first such platform in Russia. It was developed by USC and the Vympel design bureau.
The platform is designed for the serial production of universal dry cargo ships, container ships, and tankers of the PC R2 class. The project takes into account important solutions for simplifying and unifying equipment: the propulsion and steering system and diesel generators will be the same for all vessels, differing only in quantity.
Boris Bogomolov, Deputy General Director of USC for Engineering, noted that the development has already passed basin tests. The platform combines three types of vessels with a length of 141 meters, a width of 16.9 meters, and a deadweight of up to 9500 tons. It meets the requirements for operation in all river basins of Russia and access to the sea. Metal cutting for the new vessel will begin on April 1, 2026.
