"Rostelecom" has filed a lawsuit against the "Ostrovnoy" fish processing plant for 92.6 million rubles for damage caused by the destruction of an underwater fiber-optic communication line (UFOCL). The incident occurred 447 kilometers from Anadyr, when the vessel "Ostrovnoy-6" damaged the cable during fishing.
In addition to compensation for damages, the provider is also demanding 938 thousand rubles for the state fee. The captain of the vessel has been involved in the case as a third party. The trial will begin on October 14 in the Arbitration Court of the Sakhalin Region.
This case is unique in that there have been practically no similar proceedings for damage to UFOCL before. In July, the court seized the fish processing plant's vessel. The "Administration of Seaports of Sakhalin, Kuril and Kamchatka" prohibited the fish processing plant from registering changes in the rights to "Ostrovnoy-6". The company tried to replace the seized vessel with "Ostrovnoy-12", but the court refused.
