Images of the heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser "Admiral Ushakov" of Project 1144 (formerly "Kirov") and the nuclear submarine "Dmitry Donskoy" of Project 941UM appeared online before the disposal procedure began at the Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center. The photographs were published by military expert Ilya Kramnik.
"Admiral Ushakov" was withdrawn from the Russian Navy in 2002 due to technical obsolescence. The ship belongs to the "Orlan" project, and after being withdrawn from the fleet, deliberations began about its future fate, and a decision was eventually made to dispose of it.
The nuclear submarine of Project 941UM "Dmitry Donskoy" was withdrawn from the Navy in September 2023. However, rumors appeared online that the submarine will be converted into a museum exhibit, and then installed permanently in St. Petersburg.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the frigate "Admiral Golovko" launched a hypersonic "Zircon" in the Barents Sea guided by a Tu-142.
