Новый трюк аферистов: фальшивые операции с недвижимостью

Fraudsters posing as Rosreestr employees are trying to gain access to personal data and funds of homeowners

The Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography (Rosreestr) has warned citizens about a new type of real estate fraud. Fraudsters, posing as employees of the department, call, write to e-mail or in messengers to gain access to personal data and funds of homeowners.

Scammers report alleged real estate transactions, such as sale, pledge or arrest. The goal is to cause concern and encourage the person to contact "support" at the specified number. In a conversation or correspondence, they request confidential information or demand money to be transferred to "cancel" these operations. Such cases have become more frequent in recent weeks, the department noted.

It is important to remember that Rosreestr does not contact citizens via SMS messages, messengers or e-mail with offers to follow links or call back to a certain phone number. Among the cases when the department may actually contact a citizen by phone or e-mail is exclusively an information notification about the progress of the service, clarification of information within the framework of the service, and the results of its provision.
Maxim SmirnovDeputy Head of Rosreestr

Deputy Head of Rosreestr Maxim Smirnov explained that the official department never asks to follow links or call back to unofficial numbers. Rosreestr may contact a citizen by phone or e-mail only to notify about the status of the service, clarify data or the results of its provision.

If you suddenly receive a message where you are allegedly warned on behalf of Rosreestr about any transactions with your real estate and asked to perform a number of suspicious actions, please do not react to them, delete them as soon as possible and report the incident to law enforcement agencies.

For protection, it is recommended to check the sender's domain: official correspondence is conducted only from @rosreestr.ru addresses. Do not open attachments from suspicious letters and enable the display of full file extensions in the computer settings. Delete such messages immediately, clear the recycle bin and do not call back to unknown numbers. To verify information, it is recommended to use only contacts from the official Rosreestr website.
