With restrictions on calls through messengers and increased monitoring by telecom operators, scammers are increasingly turning to landline phones. This was reported to TASS by Alla Khrapunova, curator of the People's Front platform "Moshelovka."
According to her, landline phones are mainly used by elderly citizens who are accustomed to traditional means of communication and find it difficult to master new technologies. Scammers exploit this, as well as the insufficient digital literacy and gullibility of the older generation, to manipulate them and extort money or personal data.
Khrapunova emphasized that it is important to warn parents, grandparents about the threat, explain the schemes of scammers, and urge them not to be afraid to hang up. "It is necessary to create a circle of trust within the family, show attention to the older generation, and stay in touch with loved ones," she noted.
Experts advise regularly discussing current methods of fraud with elderly relatives and reminding them of the need to verify information before taking any action at the request of an unknown caller. This approach helps reduce risks and protect the most vulnerable citizens.
