Три проекта по локализации автоматических коробок передач разрабатываются в России

The projects aim to produce transmissions for passenger and commercial vehicles

In Russia, three projects are underway to localize the production of automatic transmissions for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov.

The official clarified that the projects are technologically complex and require significant investments, so their implementation is being carried out in cooperation with partners from friendly countries. Specific dates for the start of mass production and implementation details have not yet been disclosed.

Currently, automatic transmissions are only available in some models of Russian brands. For example, the Lada Vesta is equipped with a Chinese WLY variator. In the near future, it is planned to release a classic 6-speed "automatic" for UAZs and commercial models under the Sollers brand.

In addition, work is underway to adapt the Russian 9-speed automatic transmission KATE, which is currently only used on luxury Aurus vehicles, for installation on NefAZ buses. Expanding its use will increase production volumes and reduce production costs.

The localization of automatic transmissions will create opportunities for wider use of modern transmissions in the Russian automotive industry and reduce dependence on imported components, which is important for the development of the industry and increasing the country's technological independence.
