The production program for the new Tu-214 at the Kazan Aviation Plant is being hampered by the success of the MS-21. At the same time, the enterprise received serious funding back in 2022, the authors of the Technosphere Russia publication recalled.
The journalists noted that with the creation of serial production of the Tu-214, the driving force of the project was the desire to hedge when it was necessary to seriously rework the MS-21 into the MS-21-310 version without foreign components in the early 2020s.
But if it was such an insurance, then it did not give the desired result. The "reserve" car did not appear in the series, work on the Tu-214 is proceeding extremely slowly.
During this time, a huge amount of work was carried out on the MS-21 on engines, on-board radio-electronic equipment, fuselage components, wings, even on aircraft tires, in 2026 the car will be ready for the start of commercial operation.
In parallel, everything is moving very, very slowly in Kazan. However, interest in the car remains, and if it were not for the problematic situation with the Kazan Aviation Plant, the aircraft would already be flying on domestic routes.
Yes, and we must emphasize: the Tu-214 is a good and still competitive example of a passenger aircraft.
According to 116.ru, the cost of one Tu-214 aircraft is at the level of 5.6 billion rubles.
