Photos of heavy T-90S tanks in the Vietnamese Armed Forces have appeared online. The combat vehicles were presented during a parade in honor of the republic's Independence Day.
The configuration of the vehicles for Vietnam differs little from the Russian one and almost completely corresponds to what Uralvagonzavod showed at an exhibition in Peru back in 2013.
The main external difference is the "old" "square" screens on the sides, the Shtora-1M electronic-optical active protection system, air conditioning, and a slightly different armor for the night sight cover. In total, Vietnam received 64 tanks of this modification from Russia.
Also, the T-90S differs from the T-90M in the presence of multi-layered dynamic protection, an improved Kalina fire control system, and a new 2A82-1M gun, which makes it a more modern and powerful machine.
