Serial Production of VK-650V Engines for Light Helicopters Planned from 2026

The first Russian engine for rotorcraft weighing up to 4 tons, the VK-650V, will appear next year

Serial VK-650V engines for light helicopters will be supplied starting in 2026. This is evidenced by the first "firm" contracts that were concluded, as follows from the materials prepared for the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Samara.

The VK-650V is a new domestic engine for light helicopters capable of lifting up to 4 tons of cargo. It is equipped with an advanced digital automatic control system. The development of this engine by the United Engine Corporation was completed in the shortest possible time, and it is now ready for mass production.

According to the documentation, the engine development began in 2019 for use in light helicopters such as the Ka-226 and Ansat. The main goal is to replace imported Arrius engines from Safran and PW207 from Pratt & Whitney.
