Welding work for the rails of the high-speed railway (HSR) connecting Moscow and St. Petersburg is scheduled to begin on September 10. These works will be carried out at rail welding plant No. 1, which is part of the Sinara Group and located in St. Petersburg.
Unique rails of the DT350VS400 grade were produced by Evraz on order from Russian Railways. When leaving the rolling mill, their length is 100 meters.
To ensure maximum comfort during the trip, it is necessary to minimize the number of joints. It is important that the train wheel rolls continuously. For this, the rails for the high-speed railway are welded into long sections of 800 meters each.
As noted in the press service, not only innovative rails were developed for the implementation of the high-speed railway (HSR) project. Specialists from the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Railway Transport and Evraz also established special requirements for rail welding modes. These requirements are aimed at ensuring high reliability of welded joints.
Earlier www1 reported that production of a high-speed train for the HSR has started at Ural Locomotives.
