Fresh shots of the Russian submarine B-90 "Sarov" leaving the base in Severodvinsk have appeared online. This is the only submarine of project 20120, which remains completely closed to the media, although it has been in service for 17 years.
"Sarov" is an experimental submarine designed for testing modernized and developed weapons samples, deep-sea equipment and their supporting ship systems.
Data on the length of the submarine vary, some authors claim that it is 72 m, while others say 98 m. Only the underwater displacement figure is voiced the same - about 4000 tons. The preliminary immersion depth is up to 300 m, however, some sources are sure that it can descend much lower.
There is no information about the power plant at the moment. Probably, we are talking about some kind of "energy installation of a completely new type" with unlimited underwater endurance. The submarine's armament is shrouded in mystery. It is known for certain that it has two torpedo tubes and a secret launcher in the bow.
The abundance of rumors around "Sarov" can be explained by the fact that it is actually an underwater test bench on which you can install the latest onboard systems, advanced weapons or auxiliary engines. This approach is much cheaper than building a lead boat of a new project for many billions of rubles.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the location of the Kinzhal missiles' suspension to the MiG-31K fighters was shown in the photo.
