«Яндекс Карты» добавили панорамы для 400+ населенных пунктов

New detailed shots cover major cities and remote locations, including Baikal, the Caucasus, and Teriberka

"Yandex Maps" has announced a significant update. The service has added new panoramas for over 400 settlements in Russia, 40 of which are available for the first time. Among the updated objects are six major cities with a population of over one million, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod, and Yekaterinburg, as well as tourist cities in the Kaliningrad region and Krasnodar Territory, the natural zones of Baikal and the Amur, the Caucasus Mountains, and other significant locations.

Special attention was paid to small settlements, including the village of Teriberka on the Kola Peninsula and the only strait of Lake Baikal — the Olkhon Gate. As a result of the filming, conducted from May to October 2024, "Yandex Maps" updated more than 1.6 million panoramic shots, covering about 55 thousand kilometers of Russian roads.

Users will be able to virtually stroll through the streets of the updated settlements, explore the details of attractions, pedestrian routes, and see important infrastructure facilities, such as entrances to buildings, road signs, and traffic lights. The high level of detail in the images contributes to the automatic updating of maps, the addition of new data, and the improvement of the accuracy of information about the road situation.

With the help of panoramas, "Yandex Maps" began to create detailed maps with road markings, which are already available in 30 Russian cities. This technology uses panoramic images superimposed on satellite images, which improves the relevance and accuracy of maps, and in the future, such detail will appear in other cities as well.
