Sinara – Transport Machines Group (STM) plans to release the first dual-system electric locomotive 2ES12 in 2026. This was announced by Anton Zubikhin, Deputy General Director of Sinara Group, at the PRO//Motion. Expo salon.
We are planning to produce the first sample of the dual-system locomotive 2ES12, which will be called "Amethyst", next year.
The promising machine will be a continuation of the line of new generation of ES8 platform freight locomotives with asynchronous traction wire. This line includes the DC electric locomotive 2ES8 "Malachite" and the AC electric locomotive 2ES11 "Orlets" presented at the exhibition.
The development of 2ES12 was announced in 2022. The design speed of the new electric locomotive will be up to 140 km/h, and the power in continuous mode will be at least 8000 kW.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the new electric locomotive 2ES11 "Orlets" will be presented at the exhibition "PRO//Motion. Expo".
