The Kalashnikov Group (part of Rostec) has manufactured the first experimental batch of 5.45 mm AM-17 small-sized assault rifles. The weapon has successfully passed military and state tests.
The AM-17 was designed at the Kalashnikov design and technology center according to the military's requirements as a promising self-defense weapon for combat vehicle crews, as well as for arming special forces soldiers of the army and law enforcement agencies.
When creating the small-sized assault rifle, engineers took into account all the requirements for modern automatic small arms.
Based on feedback from the special military operation zone, a number of changes were made to the product. The AM-17 is ready for new tests in the interests of the customer; the development work has been fully completed.
Main characteristics of the AM-17 small-sized assault rifle:
- Cartridge used — 5.45x39
- Magazine capacity, pcs. of cartridges — 30
- Rate of fire, rounds/min. — 850±50
- Weight of the rifle without magazine, sling and accessories, kg — 2.5±0.1
All types of 5.45 mm ammunition adopted by the Russian Army are used for firing from the rifle.
