Hypersonic in a plasma cloud: military expert explained the principle of operation of "Oreshnik"

The warheads of the missile heat up to 4000 °C

The new Russian medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) "Oreshnik" is not just a new weapon, but a system that changes the balance of power. This was stated by the Deputy Head of the Faculty of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus, Andrei Bogodel.

According to him, the characteristics of the missile are impressive. The range of destruction is up to 5.5 thousand km, hypersonic speed is over 12.3 thousand. km/h.

The missile carries a warhead consisting of several warheads weighing over 1.5 tons. In a nuclear version, the complex can deliver a charge with a capacity of up to 900 kT.

"Oreshnik" is possible only at the very initial stage of the flight. To the target, the warheads approach at hypersonic speed in a plasma cloud, possessing colossal kinetic energy. This is enough to destroy even the most protected underground objects with a conventional warhead.

The complex has successfully passed tests in combat conditions and has been put into mass production. By the end of 2025, it is planned to permanently deploy it in the eastern part of Belarus.

Currently, launch sites and deployment locations are being prepared in the republic, routes of advance, attention is paid to issues of security, camouflage and protection from air strikes, including drones.
