Five hydraulic structures (HSS) are planned to be built in the Astrakhan region by 2030, according to the regional service for nature management and environmental protection. The project, worth 300 million rubles, aims to improve water supply for nearly 500,000 residents and ensure safety during floods.
The construction of culverts is scheduled for 2026 in the Ikryaninsky, Limansky, and Narimanovsky districts. After commissioning, the facilities will be transferred to the balance of local district administrations.
The construction of 5 culverts is planned for 2026 in the Ikryaninsky, Limansky, and Narimanovsky districts of the Astrakhan region. As a result of the implementation of the measures by 2030 <...> the number of people for whom comfortable living conditions will be created near water bodies will be 452 thousand people.
According to the department, the function of the HSS is to open and close the gates in a timely manner to regulate the flow of water during floods. This will create guaranteed water supply sources and improve the flooding of the region, in particular, in the zone of the western sub-steppe ilmens.
The project documentation was developed within the framework of the federal project "Rehabilitation of the Volga" of the national project "Ecology", which is now continuing as "Water of Russia". The need for new facilities is due to the shallow floods observed in the region in recent years. They lead to shallowing of water bodies and negatively affect the Volga ecosystem.
