The TE26 diesel locomotive will be presented at the PRO//Motion. Expo exhibition. It was created at the Bryansk Machine-Building Plant (part of TMH).
This is a universal single-section main locomotive designed for driving both freight and passenger trains. Gradually, it should replace the M62 diesel locomotives operated on the Russian Railways network.
The new locomotive is equipped with a domestic diesel engine with a new generation turbocharger, and more than 90% of its components are produced in Russia. The declared service life of the locomotive is at least 40 years.
Experts will assess the performance of the TE26, its interaction with the infrastructure, and calculate the operating modes in operational conditions. To obtain test results, the locomotive will travel 5 thousand km in freight mode. Then it will undergo a certification testing procedure at the Research and Design and Technological Institute of Rolling Stock in Kolomna.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the eight-axle shunting diesel locomotive TEM885 began to be developed in Russia.
