Tu-204 chief designer called the production of Tu-214 one at a time per year meaningless

To revive production, it is necessary to reach a volume of 100 aircraft annually

The chief designer of Tu-204, Oleg Alasheev, expressed the opinion that it makes no sense for the domestic aircraft industry to produce Tu-214 at the Kazan Aviation Plant in 1-2 units per year.

According to him, the production of Tu-214 really needs to be revived. This is already a finished aircraft and, with certain improvements, it will be in no way inferior to Western modern counterparts.

However, what is being done today on Tu-214 and in volumes of 1-2 aircraft per year, these are still steps that will definitely not lead to anything, the designer believes.

In my opinion, producing one, two, or even 10 is meaningless. It is necessary to initially plan to reach a production of at least 100 aircraft annually, and that is just for starters. And with normal funding.

In 2025, the Kazan Aviation Plant will deliver another Tu-214. This aircraft will be only the second since 2022.
