First hydrogen drone produced in Russia: flies 4 times longer than battery-powered one

Hydrogen is stored in a composite cylinder under a pressure of 350 atmospheres

The first Russian drone using hydrogen fuel cells was presented at the international forum "Islands of Sustainable Development: a Climate Aspect" in Sakhalin. The flight duration of the device is 3.5-4 times longer than that of other models.

Timofey Sergeenko, an engineer at the "Hydrogen Energy Center," said that the hydrogen in the new product is stored in a composite cylinder under a pressure of 350 atmospheres, from which the fuel enters when an electrochemical reaction occurs.

The flight duration is longer due to the hydrogen fuel cell; the energy intensity of the system is greater, so they fly longer. The drone's certification is coming to an end, the main flight tests have already been completed, and commercial use will begin in the next few months.

The drone's flight time is 4 hours without payload, 3 hours with payload. Take-off weight is 18 kg, payload is 5 kg.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that deliveries of parts for Superjets will increase by 2.5 times.
