Workers used almost 2,200 tons of rebar

Nuclear scientists continue to work on the third power unit of the Akkuyu NPP, which is being built in the Turkish province of Mersin. Workers have completed concreting the walls of the turbine building. This was reported by the Rosatom press service.

More than 13,100 cubic meters of concrete were laid and almost 2,200 tons of reinforcement were installed during the construction of the walls.

The concrete mixture was supplied by pumping units, and reinforcement and formwork were supplied by tower and truck cranes. At the final stage, more than 70 specialists worked at the facility, including reinforcement workers and welders.

Akkuyu Nuclear CEO Sergei Butskikh said that the turbine building is a key facility where the main power generation equipment will operate. Now, nuclear scientists will proceed to install overhead cranes and install roof structures of the engine room, he added.

It should be reminded that the first power unit of the NPP is planned to be launched before the end of 2025.
