Russian Railways (RZD) is preparing to launch completely new cars. This was announced by the company's General Director, Chairman of the Board, Oleg Belozerov.
This year, we will actually launch a T-gauge compartment car. This car is 28 cm wider and 73 cm longer as a car. The traditional berth in a compartment car will be 20 cm longer and 3 centimeters wider.
Six T-gauge cars have been certified. By the end of this year, it is planned to purchase 38 of them.
Trains with updated cars will appear on the Moscow - St. Petersburg route from September. At the same time, Russian Railways is working to increase the level of comfort in open-plan cars.
Not only regular berths, but also side berths, the most difficult ones, will also increase in length and width. Moreover, a shower will also be placed separately, which will also create additional opportunities.
The certification of the new open-plan car will take place in December this year. It will be put into operation in 2026.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian Railways started testing the first compartment car of increased size.
