The nuclear submarine (SSBN) "Knyaz Pozharsky" of Project 955A, code "Borei-A," will be able to carry 16 RSM-56 "Bulava" intercontinental ballistic missiles, each of which can be equipped with up to 10 individually guided warheads – up to 160 nuclear warheads in total.
The "Borei-A" project is the world's largest class of operating submarines. In total, Russia plans to build 14 such SSBNs.
Captain of the first rank (retired) Vasily Dandykin clarified that "Knyaz Pozharsky" is more correctly called an atomic missile cruiser of strategic designation. According to him, Russia is significantly ahead of the Americans in creating modern submarines.
Our submarine cruiser carries solid-propellant Bulava missiles, each of which contains up to 8–10 warheads inside. After launch, each of them begins independent maneuvering. The range of such missiles is 8 thousand km.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that shares of Zvezda JSC have been included in the authorized capital of the manufacturer of Yasen-M project submarines.
