Cruiser Varyag Strikes Target in Sea of Japan with Vulkan Cruise Missile

Pacific Fleet ships involved in "July Storm" exercises

Pacific Fleet ships at the Russian Navy's "July Storm" exercises launched a joint cruise missile strike against targets in the Sea of Japan, simulating enemy ships. This was reported by the fleet's press service.

The missile cruiser "Varyag" (Project 1164 "Atlant") launched a Vulkan anti-ship cruise missile. A group of strike boats consisting of R-18 and R-20 attacked targets with Moskit cruise missiles.

The combat crew of the Bastion coastal missile system, which marched to a positional area on the coast of Primorsky Krai, struck a sea target position with an Oniks cruise missile.

The area where the missile firings were conducted was closed to civilian ships and aviation flights.

The "July Storm" maneuvers will last until July 27. They involve more than 150 warships and support vessels.
