Beloyarsk Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) and OKBM Afrikantov have signed an agreement to expand the emergency stock of equipment. This is part of Rosenergoatom Concern's program to improve the safety of nuclear power plants, the company's communications department reported.
Special attention will be paid to equipment with long manufacturing times, which will allow for the prompt restoration of power unit operations if necessary. The first item on the delivery list is a 58-ton intermediate heat exchanger for the fourth power unit with the BN-800 reactor.
All Russian NPPs maintain strict control over material stocks, including emergency stocks, repair funds, and technological reserves with critical equipment such as stators and turbogenerators. The uninterrupted operation of the stations and the supply of electricity to consumers depend on their serviceability.
Beloyarsk NPP Unit No. 3 received permission to extend its operation for another 15 years. Rostekhnadzor issued a license for its operation until 2040, which became known on March 31, a week before the 45th anniversary of the BN-600 reactor, which will be celebrated on April 8, 2025.
