The nuclear-powered missile cruiser "Orel" (project 949A "Antey") of the Northern Fleet has begun performing tasks in the Barents Sea during the Russian Navy's "July Storm" exercises. This was reported in the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Servicemen from the patrol group, as well as combat swimmers, inspected the underwater part and propeller-rudder group of the submarine before participating in the maneuvers. They also accompanied the nuclear submarine "Orel" until it entered the Barents Sea.
Having made the transition to the designated point, the APRK "Orel" submerged into the underwater position with the task of secretly deploying in the designated area in readiness to use missile weapons against the ship group of the mock enemy.
From July 23 to 27, under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Alexander Moiseev, the "July Storm" exercises are being held in the waters of the Pacific and Arctic Oceans, the Barents, Baltic and Caspian Seas. Among others, the large anti-submarine ship (BPC) "Admiral Levchenko" is taking part in them.
