The "Penicillin" sound-thermal reconnaissance complex, developed by the "Rosel" holding (part of Rostec), helps the military effectively conduct counter-battery combat. With its help, units identify enemy firing positions in seconds and provide artillery with target designations for return fire.
The state corporation emphasized that "Penicillin" is a new generation complex that combines information of three types - thermal, seismic and visual. With the help of sensors, it detects sound and light waves from shots and explosions.
The equipment automatically processes information and within a few seconds provides the coordinates of enemy guns - from mortars to heavy howitzers. The detection range is impressive. As a result, the enemy gun does not even have time to cool down the barrel after the shot, and the answer is already coming from our side.
"Penicillin" is also able to effectively conduct reconnaissance at any time of the day in a wide temperature range from -40 to +60 degrees Celsius.
One of its most important advantages is that the equipment works without radiation, only in passive mode. By detecting volleys of any artillery systems, the complex itself remains inaccessible for radio direction finding and radio jamming. It is also impossible to suppress it with electronic warfare systems.
