After the collapse of the USSR, Western countries tried to do everything to destroy the Russian aircraft industry. But in recent years, the situation has been changing for the better, said Oleg Smirnov, Honored Pilot of the USSR, Chairman of the Commission on Civil Aviation of the Public Council of Rostransnadzor.
According to him, the aviation industry is key to the development of the country's own technologies. It is inextricably linked with metallurgy, machine tool building and other areas, and implements advanced engineering solutions.
In recent years, the country's leadership has realized the hole we have fallen into and has begun to take measures for import substitution. In order to gradually transfer both large and small air transportation from Western equipment to Russian equipment, as it was before 1990. But it is very quick to destroy, and much more difficult to restore. Technologies, metallurgy, and machine tool building have been lost.
Smirnov added, recalling that the size of Russia also plays a role. Of the 17 million square kilometers, about 60% are currently not yet provided with roads or railways.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the import-substituted MS-21 aircraft successfully tested radio-electronic equipment.
