The American military company SpektreWorks has presented the LUCAS (Low-Cost Unmanned Aerial System) kamikaze drone with a modular design. The presentation took place at an exhibition on the internal territory of the Pentagon, which was attended by Defense Minister Pete Hegset.
It is assumed that the new drone will compete with the Russian "Geran-2". The drone's payload is 18 kg, which is significantly worse than its counterparts. The flight time is six hours.
In a direct comparison, the American development is significantly inferior to the Russian "Geran-2" drones, which have proven high efficiency.
The American "Shahed" will also be launched using a truck or a jet accelerator. The device can weigh up to 600 kg and fly at an altitude of up to 5,500 m. The wingspan is from 2.5 to 3 m.
"Geran-2" is a modified version of Shahed-136, adapted for combat missions and put into mass production. The drone carries 90 kg of payload against 40-50 kg for the original. The practical range is up to 2000 km.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the flagship of the Navy, the cruiser "Admiral Kuznetsov", may be scrapped.
