"I'll be back": Nearly a third of Russians fear the rise of machines due to the development of AI

More than 70% of respondents advocate for state control of neural networks

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies may lead to a machine uprising in the future. This opinion was expressed by 32% of respondents in a survey conducted by the Telegram channel 360.ru and the Anketolog service.

More than half of the respondents stated their trust in new technologies, and two-thirds believe that the advantages of using AI outweigh the risks. At the same time, 71% of those surveyed are confident that neural networks should be under state control.

AI technologies make a significant contribution to the automation of routine human tasks, according to many survey participants. However, it is unlikely to completely replace human labor.

The rise of machines under the leadership of the hostile artificial intelligence Skynet became the theme of a series of science fiction action films by director James Cameron. The American franchise with Arnold Schwarzenegger (T-800, Terminator) in the lead role has spawned many conspiracy theories and fears of an apocalypse if AI seizes power on the planet. But it has not yet been possible to stop robotization.
