Bastrikin "interrogated" Ardi the robot at a legal forum: but the head of the Investigative Committee failed to imprison the android

The android robot answers questions, but cannot yet cope with physical commands

At a legal forum in St. Petersburg, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrikin, unexpectedly staged an "interrogation" of Ardi, a bailiff robot from Perm. After several questions, the head of the IC decided to test the android's abilities - and tried to... seat him. Literally.

At first, Bastrikin asked Ardi what he did. The robot replied that he had come to the forum to entertain people, help them and answer legal questions. But when the investigator asked the android to sit down, the conversation came to a standstill: the robot fell silent.

Then Bastrikin personally showed how to do it - he sat down himself and asked again: "Can you sit down?". There was no answer, and Ardi remained standing. "Good luck, teach him [to squat]", Bastrikin ironically wished the development team.

Ardi the robot is a product of the Promobot company, created on the Robo-C platform by order of Double W Expo. It is equipped with the Motion Capture system and is capable of reproducing human emotions, facial expressions and gestures. Its main function is to interact with people at forums, exhibitions and in public spaces.

This time the robot failed to cope with the task, but it certainly created intrigue. We hope that next time he will not only answer, but also learn to squat. In the meantime, it's a good illustration that not everything is subject to even the head of the IC.
