New research vessel "Vice-Admiral Burilichev" launched for the benefit of the Ministry of Defense

Project 22011 vessel built at the Vyborg Shipyard

At the end of June, the Vyborg Shipyard (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, USC) launched the oceanographic research vessel "Vice-Admiral Burilichev" of Project 22011 with serial number 236. It was built for the Main Directorate of Deep-Sea Research (GUGI) of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The vessel was laid down at the enterprise back in February 2021, and was named in honor of Vice-Admiral Alexei Vitalievich Burilichev, who served as the head of GUGI from 2005 to 2020.

The developer of Project 22011 is the St. Petersburg-based JSC "Central Marine Design Bureau "Almaz".

The vessel "Vice-Admiral Burilichev" became a development of Project 22010 of the same Central Marine Design Bureau "Almaz", according to which the oceanographic research vessel (OIS) "Yantar" was built for GUGI at JSC "Baltic Shipyard "Yantar" (Kaliningrad).
