The AGR holding plant in Kaluga will begin producing cars under the Russian brand Tenet in the coming days. This was announced on June 26 by the Governor of the Kaluga Region, Vladislav Shapsha.
According to Shapsha, the presentation of the new Tenet model will take place in the near future, and mass production will start as early as 2025. The lineup will be based on crossovers — from compact models to full-size all-wheel drive D-class SUVs.
The Governor confirmed that almost all employees of the former Volkswagen plant have returned to work after the resumption of production in 2024.
Last year, the plant assembled 75,000 cars and is now restoring the full production cycle with welding and painting of bodies. According to him, the build quality remains high thanks to the German control system.
The Tenet brand was created in partnership between the AGR holding and the Chinese company Defetoo. Production is organized on the basis of the former Volkswagen plant. The name Tenet stands for "Take Every New Experience Together." The plans include the release of four models, the first of which will be a renamed Chery Tiggo 7L.
AGR has developed a long-term investment program for 20 years, providing for deep localization of production using Russian components and technologies.
