Быстрее и точнее: искусственный интеллект для диагностики артроза начали применять в Москве

The service recognizes the main symptoms of the disease on X-rays: narrowing of the joint space, the appearance of osteophytes and changes in bone tissue

In Moscow, doctors have begun to use artificial intelligence to diagnose arthrosis. The system analyzes X-rays and identifies key symptoms of the disease. This speeds up the diagnosis process and reduces the likelihood of missing the initial stages of the disease.

Arthrosis is a chronic joint disease in which cartilage tissue is destroyed and the structure of bones changes. The disease can occur at any age, but most often affects the elderly.

An innovative service using artificial intelligence has been introduced into the Moscow healthcare system. The neural network is now able to identify signs of hip arthrosis on radiographic images. This was announced by Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.

Specialists of the capital's Center for Diagnostics and Telemedicine have completed testing a new artificial intelligence service. It has successfully passed all types of checks and is now integrated into the unified radiological information service EMIAS to help Moscow radiologists. The algorithm will automatically determine signs of hip arthrosis on radiography — this is a new clinical area of work for neural networks in radiological diagnostics.

The service allows doctors to identify signs of arthrosis faster and more accurately. It automatically highlights suspicious areas in the image and measures them, saving specialists time when preparing a conclusion.

The specialist emphasized that an accurate description of the study will help the doctor choose the right treatment tactics. For example, give recommendations on limiting physical activity and prescribe the necessary drugs.

Anastasia Rakova reported that artificial intelligence is able to recognize pathologies in medical images in 40 areas. However, according to her, the final decision on treatment and diagnosis always remains with the doctor. AI only acts as an assistant, without replacing a specialist.

Artificial intelligence is actively penetrating Russian medicine. According to the Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko, the number of registered medical devices with AI is increasing every month.
