The shells of the Tornado-S multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) have proven to be very effective in real combat conditions. The ammunition confidently breaks through the protective equipment of electronic warfare (EW) and air defense (AD), Rostec reported.
The Tornado-S has a number of special combat qualities, the state corporation noted. First, a long range of use, superior to analogues. Second, various warheads are used, including high-power ones, capable of destroying, for example, a protected command post.
According to combat experience, Tornado-S ammunition shows a consistently high probability of breaking through enemy air defense lines. Also, guided missiles of the domestic MLRS have an advanced inertial guidance system that successfully operates in conditions of suppression of satellite communication channels.
"Tornado-S" has a caliber of 300 mm and is designed to strike at manpower, equipment, stationary and moving single and group objects. MLRS can hit artillery and missile units, troop control points, air defense equipment, other enemy targets, including highly protected ones.
The MLRS is equipped with an automated guidance and fire control system. It provides, for example, accurate topographic referencing of the vehicle to the terrain directly from the march and can guide each projectile separately.
