The ERA-GLONASS emergency response system is demonstrating impressive results in reducing the time it takes to provide assistance in road traffic accidents (RTAs). Alexey Raikevich, General Director of JSC GLONASS, announced this at a meeting of the Council for the Development of the Transport Complex in the Regions under the Federation Council.
Over 10 years, the system has transmitted more than 466,000 emergency calls in the event of an accident, and in 90% of cases - in serious accidents not recorded by other sources.
According to him, thanks to ERA-GLONASS, the response time of rescue services has been halved - to an average of 19 seconds. This became possible thanks to the automatic transmission of coordinates and vehicle data to emergency services.
Raikevich emphasized that this year an AI robot was introduced into the system, which significantly unloaded contact center operators, increasing the accuracy of processing emergency calls by a third. The innovation allows for more efficient management of information flows and rapid response to incidents.
Andrey Nikitin, Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia, emphasized that the development of technologies such as ERA-GLONASS and unmanned transport requires continuous improvement of the regulatory framework and infrastructure. This work is necessary not only to improve the quality of emergency assistance, but also to improve safety on the roads.
